Simply put, a call disposition records the outcome of a call. But the real power is what happens when you click it.
Instead of typing a different note for the same result, your team chooses a clear button—like Meeting Booked, Send Information, or Send Contract. That one choice records what happened and can start the next configured step in Zoho CRM.
The value is in how you configure each disposition. Dial Amp lets you choose the actions behind each button and add conditional logic to field updates. For example, only fill a field if it is empty, or only change a status when its current value matches your rule—so you don’t overwrite information you want to keep.
Build dispositions around your process.
Choose the outcomes your team uses, then decide what each one should do in Zoho.
For a disposition, add one or more Zoho Actions: set a CRM field to a value, write today’s date, or step through a list. You can also make an action conditional and choose when it runs. The preview shows a sample setup for Meeting Booked.
For example, set Lead Status to Qualified and save the meeting date on the linked record. Field updates can also be used by your existing Zoho CRM workflow rules.
Working with a retry queue? Configure an action to run on the first attempt today only. Later attempts that day can skip that action, avoiding repeated field updates or stepping a record through your process too quickly.
Capture the details. Choose the next call.
Require current-call notes on selected buttons.
Enable Require call notes before completing this disposition on the buttons that need an agent’s explanation. Entered notes are saved before the selected action completes; an already-saved note for that call also counts.
This is separate from a button’s automatic Zoho note. Blank notes, previous record notes, and configured automatic notes do not satisfy the requirement. Other buttons remain optional unless you enable it.
Choose “Try secondary number” as the next action.
Set After Click → Try secondary number on an appropriate disposition to try the same Lead or Contact’s second configured phone number after no answer, busy, or voicemail on the primary number—instead of advancing to another contact.
The secondary attempt is a separate call with its own outcome, timing, and notes. Agents can also use the built-in Call secondary number control without configuring a dedicated button. It is not available during a live conversation.
Create dialing sets for both stages of a call.
“Not Contacted” Dialing Set
Use this set before a live conversation, with buttons such as No Voicemail, Leave Voicemail, and Live Answer. Choosing Live Answer switches to the Live Answer set for the same call.
“Live Answer” Set
Use this set once someone answers, with conversation outcomes such as Meeting Booked, Send Contract, or Not Interested. Configure the CRM updates and follow-up actions that belong with each outcome.
Separate sets keep unanswered-call actions apart from conversation follow-ups. Create multiple sets when different campaigns or processes need different buttons and actions. When you start a dial session, choose the Not Contacted Dialing Set and Live Answer Set you want to use, so the options match the calls you’re making.
Keep your agents talking — not doing admin work.
Your agents should be focused on the next conversation, not dialing numbers, updating CRM fields, sending follow-up emails, or creating tasks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a call disposition?
A disposition is a predefined label (like 'Left Voicemail', 'Meeting Booked', or 'Not Interested') that an agent selects to summarize the outcome of a call.
How do dispositions map to Zoho CRM?
Administrators can link any Dial Amp disposition to a specific field and value in Zoho CRM (e.g., mapping 'Meeting Booked' to update a Lead Status to 'Qualified').
Can a disposition require agent-written call notes?
Yes. Enable Require call notes before completing this disposition on selected buttons. The agent must have a nonblank note saved for the current call before the action completes. Entered drafts are saved when the button is clicked. A button’s automatic Zoho note and previous record notes do not count, and other buttons can remain optional.
Can a disposition try a secondary phone number?
Yes. Set After Click to Try secondary number to try the same Lead or Contact’s second configured Zoho phone number after no answer, busy, or voicemail on the primary number, instead of advancing to another contact. The attempt has its own call outcome, timing, and notes. Agents can also use the built-in Call secondary number control without a dedicated disposition button.
Can dispositions trigger retries?
Yes. Certain dispositions, such as 'No Answer' or 'Busy', can be configured to automatically schedule the contact for another call attempt based on your established retry rules.
